Welcome one and all to my latest pity party!
I have no pictures. I just have lots of words.
I actually can't believe I'm blogging about this since very few people even know about what I'm wanting to write about. I may not even post this, but I feel like if I write my thoughts down I will feel alot better.
Here goes........................
I am overweight. I always have been. I diet and I have lost tons of weight. Keep it off a few years and then just pack it all back on. Right now I'm in the pack it all back on stage. I'm not happy about it at all. I have very few clothes that even fit me. I wear the same thing over and over. Until it finally hit me right square in the face and this is how it happened!!!!
Josiah was complaining with a sore throat when I picked him up from school Monday afternoon. He had strep quite a bit so I didn't waste anytime in getting him in to the dr's office just in case. We left school and went straight to the doctor. His doctor had already left for the day so they put us with a nurse practioner we have seen before.
They called Josiah's name and they checked his weight and his temp and then I waited for the PA to come in. The door opened and here came a man in a white coat that I had never seen before. He never introduced himself. He came in and just sat down and started writing in his notebook and thumbing through his ipad. I figured he was a student doing clinicals of some sort because we have dealt with them before. Not a problem. At least I thought........
He started asking Josiah all kinds of questions about how he felt. Then he started asking crazy questions and I was begining to think that something was dreadfully wrong with my child. So I finally just blurted out, "They swabbed him for strep." He give me a cold, stern look and said, "I know. It was postitive." So we been to the dr lots of times. Give us the prescription, his sticker, and a sucker and let us go home.
That's when Mr. PA lit into me over Josiah's weight. I know Josiah is overweight too. He gained a few pounds over the summer and he could stand to lose some weight like the rest of us. However, the way Mr. PA handled it was very unkind and unproffessional.
Mr. PA looked at me with disgust and began asking me about my own health. Accussing questions, not at all that he was concerned. I felt quite smug in answering him that no, I wasn't a diabetic and no, I don't have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, no I don't have a thyroid problem. Seriously, Doc! I have a meat, potato, and bread problem!!!
So after Mr. PA insulted me he went on to insult Maynard. He asked Josiah how big was his Daddy. Josiah didn't know what to say so he looked over at me. I answered that he was 6ft 6 and over 300 lbs. Mr. PA rolled his eyes and sputtered. His words, "Oh, I get it. So your raised into a big family so that's just how it's gonna be. They're big and now you just have to be big because you were born into it."
By now, I am near tears and I want out of there, but I don't want Josiah to even get a hint that I'm upset or something is wrong with him because if Josiah started crying.......... Well, it may have got ugly!!!!
Mr. PA sat back down with his notebook and asked me what Josiah ate in a normal day. I started with Josiah's breakfast. He had 3 frozen pancakes. Mr. PA about fell out of his chair. 3 pancakes? He said, "Oh, let me guess. Loaded in butter and extra syrup?" Well, of course not! We never put butter on our pancakes. Ha Ha
So I went on to tell him about his lunch and snack at school.
"What's he drink, POP?" "No, sir he brings water with sugar free flavoring. Pop is a treat around our house,"
Then he asks me what he eats for supper.
I explain that I try to cook supper every night for my family.
"What do you cook?"
"Ummm, just regular supper food."
"TELL ME WHAT YOU COOK FOR SUPPER?"
I began to name off supper food. I mean duh! Pot roast, chicken, spaghetti, meatloaf. Supper!!!!
"How much tv does he watch?" "We don't have a T.V. in our home." (Which completly shot his theory down!!!)
"You let him have access to food anytime he wants?" "NO, sir he always has to ask permission."
So we have a few moments of silence as he continues to write in his notebook and thumb through his Ipad and I am biting my lip wishing to God I never brought him to the dr that day.
He finally looks up at me and says, "What's the plan. What are you going to do about it? Josiah has been sick so much because he is overweight.
Really? Josiah has strep because he is a chunky kid? Reeaally????
Mr. PA gets up and finally examines Josiah's throat. Again, disgust. "It's like craters back there!" "I'll call him in an antibiotic."
WELL. GEEZ LOUIZE! YOU THINK YOU COULD????
He turns to me and says, "I want to see him in one week. You need to come back and have a daily log of what he eats and what his servings are. If the serving size on the bag says, 1 pancake, you give him 1 pancake. If the syrup says 1 tbs, you give him that. Do you understand? He pats Josiah on the shoulder and says, "Josiah, I hope to see you live to be an old man!"
He walks out the door and explains to the normal PA that I usually see that he gave us one week to come back. By then I have Josiah's hand and we are making our way out of the building. Do we want a sucker? NO! A sticker? NO! You want a receipt or a Dr's excuse? NO!! I want the hoodikie out of this Dr's office before I become a blubbering mess.
I make it to our van and the tears flow. I look over at Josiah and his eyes are filled with tears. "Mommy, are you upset?"
One thing you will learn about me is that if I'm fighting not to cry and someone asks me what's wrong or if I'm upset, it's like opening the flood gates and that's all she wrote.
I tried not to let him know I was upset at the dr. I just explained that our whole family was going to have to make some changes and that we needed to start eating healthier and watching our proportion sizes.
I stopped to get Josiah's medicines that Mr. PA said he was gonna call in.
I waited and waited, but he never called the medicine in and the drugstore was closing.
I go on home and meet Maynard outside. We go inside to talk away from the kids and I unload. If you have ever seen an ugly cry, buddy let me tell you. I was in panic mode. All I could say was, I got in trouble for Josiah's weight and What if they are calling social services on me. I didn't even know who the man in the white coat realy was. His name badge was turned backwards. I mean I was wigging out. Maynard was begging me to calm down before I passed out. It was bad. Really bad. Of course, I couldn't write about everything that went on in that office, but that was most of it.
Maynard called our local hospital and asked if they could page Josiah's pediatrition because he really needed to talk to him.
Josiah's dr called us back in about 10 minutes. Maynard briefly filled him in on what had happened at his office earlier that evening. To beat it all, no medicine had even been called in for our sick child, the whole point in even going to the doctor.
The Dr. was astounded! He explained that he was a new Practitioner in his office, but we didn't have to worry about seeing him anymore because by morning he wouldn't be working at his office.
He explained that he was Josiah's dr and Mr. PA had no right to demand us to do anything. His job was to prescribe the correct medication for the sore throat and that was it. He told us he would call the medicine in to CVS and I could go right then to get it so I could get enough doses in Josiah so that he wouldn't have to miss school the next day.
So I get to CVS and Josiah's insurance won't cover his medicine because he just had the same medicine 3 weeks prior. Even though he had strep again, they wouldn't cover it. So I had to fork over the money because I don't like strep and it scares me if they have it too long.
Ok! So there you go. I really needed to get it off my chest. I am a basket case. I have cried until I can't cry no more.
Was the PA right?
Sure, on most of it.
I"m not mad because he told me the truth.
I"m hurt because I felt like I was attacked and made to feel like I was such a disgusting person and raising such a disgusting child.
Josiah has been to the dr enough that if his weight was really that serious than I want his DR to ask us about it. Help us and give us pointers to get healthier.
Not some new PA to come in and degrade us.
Oh, and while on the phone with the DR. it was his turn to sputter and get mad when we told him that his PA told us that Josiah had strep because he was "Heavy".
Because of our horrible day last week, something has snapped and I am back on the "lose the weight" again wagon. Never again do I want to be looked at like Mr. PA looked at me. It was the worst feeling ever.
Josiah has lost 2 lbs already this week. I've cut down his proportions and he walks every evening with me. I guess the only good thing about my week was that maybe it finally woke me up and got me to my senses even if it was degrading.
I still can't explain how I feel right now. I am seriously walking around in a daze of hurt. I am numb. I need to get over this real soon and maybe time will help. Nothing like being looked at like your disgusting and that your a bad parent all in one day!
Help me pray that my kids stay healthy. I seriously don't want to show my face in the dr's office for a long, long time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Titus' First day of Kindergarten and Josiah's first day of 2nd grade.
It's school time already?
WHAT?????
I've only blogged a little bit about our summer and here I am blogging about the first day of school. Truth is, is that I enjoyed haveing my kids home this summer. I enjoyed staying up late with them reading books and then sleeping as late as Amelia would let us. Ha Ha I enjoyed not ironing uniforms every night and packing lunch boxes. I enjoyed not having to worry about homework and memorizing scriptures. (Yeah, that probably sounded bad, didn't it? lol) Sorry, but memorizing scriptures with Josiah was not my most favorite thing. It was gruesome and enduring. We survived!!!
Josiah was ready to start school about 1 week after summer break. He even wrote us a note that said, "Please take me to summer school because I feel like I am fasting school." He also took his teacher literally when she told them to make sure they read alot this summer. That's all he did. I would have to take the book out of his hand and make him go outside and play. I'd say he read over 500 books this summer. Titus was excited to be starting Kindergarten and we were on the countdown until when school started. They enjoyed going school shopping for their school supplies. Titus didn't care what we picked. He was just happy to have whatever his list said he needed. In fact we found a good deal on backpacks for $3.99 at Walgreens. They were just plain, cheap backpacks. I never dreamed he would have agreed to a plain, black packback. There's no way Josiah would have settled for that. Titus just doesn't care. He just is happy to have something new and of his very own. Poor child, always gets hand-me downs from his brother. (Including school uniforms). Monday morning, August 12, 2013 at 7 a.m. I went in the boy's room to wake them up. Josiah jerked the covers off immediately, Titus pulled the covers up and shook his head "no" when I asked him if he was going to school. After some coaxing he finally got up and got dressed. We left for school and I begged him not to run off and leave us when he went to his classroom. When I took Josiah to Kindergarten 2 years ago, he literally ran from the car to his classroom. That was not how I had had it pictured at all. So I was needing Titus to be needful of his mother. Ha! Maynard was able to go to school with us so that really made it extra special for the boys. We got to school and off they ran. Titus was ahead of everyone. But when we opened the door, he was standing frozen solid, he had seen all the other people in the school. I guess his courage left and he decided he would wait for his Mommy after all. Ha ha! We walked to his classroom and I watched him hang his backback up and then find his spot at his table. We took a few pictures and then it was time to go. I tried to hug him, but he wouldn't let me. I guess I was embarrasing him in front of his new classmates, We went to check on Josiah in his classroom and he was just as happy as ever. Maynard, Amelia, and I walked out to leave and Josiah came running out and gave us huge hugs and then went back to his classroom. Well, this was it. It was time to go. We left school and stopped at Speedway for Maynard's daily coffee. Amelia asked for a coke slush. Since she was our only child at home and I was feeling bittersweet, I let her drink a coke slush for breakfast. She was all giggles and smiles the rest of the day. I kept asking her if she was sad or if she missed her brothers and she always said, "nope"!!! Twelve o'clock came all too fast and it was time to go back and pick Titus up. He climbed in, buckled up, and didn't say a word. I tried and tried to get him talk about his day and he wouldn't say anything. I was really worried. Finally he would start talking a little more throughout the evening. He mainly wanted to talk to Josiah about it soI had to listen in. I heard him tell Josiah that he got stuck under his table. Ha Ha He sits at a table in a small chair. I guess he wasn't able to just scoot back and get up so he declared himself stuck. He did say that it wasn't fair that Josiah gets to stay all day and he only gets to stay a little bit. He also said that his teacher asked him to write the letter "i" on the chalkboard and he said, "Guess what, Mom? I can't even write in cursive and that's what she wanted us to do." He had a lot of energy to burn when he got home, I will say that much. I believe he played with every toy he had, plus Amelia's. Tuesday morning, Titus was easier to wake up even though he kept asking me why I was waking him up in the middle of the night for school because it was still dark outside. He had me rolling though when they were both dressed for school and ready to leave. He looked at Josiah and said, "Josiah, why you always got to wear what I'm wearing?" Which is in fact hilarious, because they have to wear uniforms to school and everybody looks the same. ha ha I remember Josiah saying "Hey, Mom! Everybody at this school is dressed just like me" on his first day of school. We are blessed to send our children to a christian school. There are some Godly teachers teaching there that have good standards and teachings. I choose not to homeschool my kids because we attend a small church that have very few children. MY kids are the smallest and I think it would be a disadvantage not to send them to christian school where they can be around other kids their age. It would be different if Maynard hadn't been raised at this church and knows everyone there. We have faith in the people there and trust them teaching our children. As matter of fact, Titus' teacher used to have Maynard in class at Sunday School. Ha Ha So I'm sure she probably has an idea of what she is getting herself into. I hope my kids, as well as ya'lls, have a great school year!

Dog-Gone
And people want to know why I am so afraid of animals?????
Here's a post explaining why I am terrified of almost every animal.
3 weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon, I heard an awful racket coming from outside. I looked out to see our chocolate lab in a fight with another dog I had never seen before. I opened the door hollered, screamed, clapped my hands and they finally broke it up and the other dog trotted off. An hour or so later the kids were asking to go outside to play. I worried about a stray dog running around the neighborhood and warned them that if they seen it to come back inside. The kids went out and I started putting some laundry away. They had probably only been outside for about 20 minutes when I heard them start screaming and then I heard growling. I knew immediately that the stray dog had made it's appearance. I ran outside and they were at the end of the house, near the woods. Josiah was beating the dog on the head with a plastic ball bat and they were screaming and crying while our dog Jack was rolling on the ground with the other dog. Both dogs were growling and having an awful fight. Titus was standing there frozen solid with his hands out. I found out later that he said during an animal attack you are supposed to stand completely still like a tree and the animal won't attack you. Not sure where he heard this from, but glad it worked for him. Ha Ha Seemed like him and Josiah switched roles because Josiah was trying to protect his brother and sister while Titus just froze. From what I seen, I just assumed the kids were upset because the dogs were fighting. I hollered for the kids to hurry up inside. Josiah and Titus ran up the hill, but Amelia stopped to pick up everybody's flip flops. The dogs quit fighting when I hollered and the stray dog ran off. Josiah was in a state of shock and and was crying and screaming that he was bit. I asked him, "Where" and he said he didn't know. I checked him over real quick and he was fine. Amelia came back up and Titus screamed that she was bleeding. I got to her and she had blood running from her mouth. It was then that I realized that stray dog had attacked my kids and our dog Jack had tried to protect them. Titus and Josiah was fine. Amelia was so dirty I couldn't tell if she had been bitten or not. She had scratches all over her face and arms, but it looked like briar scratches to me. Even the blood from her lip looked like a briar scratch. She said the dog made her fall down in the bush. She is crying with her arm and won't move it much. I leave her in the tub and call the sherrif's office to report a stray dog that attacked my kids. They asked if it had bitten them and I still wasn't sure at the time. He said he was sending a deputy out to my house right away. I went back to the bathroom and began to wash Amelia. When I raised her arm to wash her I seen the bites. One was under her arm and the other on her back. I was livid!!!! The deputy came and we showed him the bites and scratches and he mentioned that we probably should take her to the hospital to get checked out while he tried to locate the dog. Of course he never found it, but he told us to either shoot it if it came back or call him again and he would catch it. We left for the hospital and drove up and down the road until we seen it running around the neighborhood. We called dispatch in hopes of them coming out to try to catch it again while we were gone. At the hospital the kids were questioned by the doctor and nurse about what happened. Come to find out Josiah said the dog came near them and Josiah reached out to pet it. Amelia got up and walked towards it to pet it too when the dog started growling. It knocked Amelia down and began to bite her and our dog Jack ran down there and attacked it to get it off Amelia. Amelia was knocked into briars and that is where her scratches came from on her face and arms. The dr put Amelia on antibiotics and we headed for home.
After supper Maynard said he was gonna go look for the dog and see if he could catch it because the deputy told us he never did see it the 3 times he came looking for it. Maynard was gone just a few minutes when he called to tell me had caught the dog. He took a chain with him and had the dog tied up to a metal post. I called dispatch again and this time they paged the dog pound to come and pick it up. Amelia and I walked up to the hill where Maynard was and she went ballistic when she seen the dog. She was afraid it was gonna hurt Maynard. The dog seemed niced enough then though. Mayard told it to sit and it did while he tied it up. He said it did growl at him once though, but Maynard was not being real gentle with it anyway.
So we got to watch them load up the dog and drive off. The dog would be quarentined for 10 days to make sure it wasn't sick or anything. If the owners are smart they won't call to claim the dumb dog. I mean would you if your dog had bitten a 3 yr old little girl in her yard? Amelia is now terrified of dogs. I'm not sure if eventually she will quite being afraid, but as of now if she sees a dog anywhere she starts crying and trying to get away. I don't want her to stay that fearful of dogs, but then again some fear at a certain point may keep her from thinking all dogs are friendly. Before, she would go to any dog and try to pet it.
My heart was filled with grattitude the next morning as we got ready for church. I was so thakful that God had watched over my children and that they wasn't hurt no worse than what they were. I love the Lord and I am so thankful to have Him in my life daily!!!!

Hey! Sorry, ya'll. I've got lots of updates and if my wifi and laptop will cooperate I will try my best to get caught up. So be prepared for "blog overload".
The last post I posted was about how we took a trip to visit my family and attend Youth Camp. The Monday we headed for home we decided to go a tad out of the way and go to the Creation Museum. We had free passes given to us so why not? We had gone 2 years prior, but now that Josiah can read well, he loved everything about it. Our first thing we did was visit the Planetarium. I'll have to admit. I was kind of bored during that show. I mean it was eat and very informative, but I'm just not that much interested in cosmos and metorites and such. But hey, that's just me. Ha Ha. I did get tickled because Josiah had a cold and he coughed the whole show. I'm sure we were given some dirty looks, but since it was dark, I didn't have to see them. After the show we went through the museum. I loved it when the kids would point out bible characters and were able to tell me who they were. The Sunday School teacher really comes out in me when we come here. I feel like the tour guide and talk and explain everything while we walk through. I mean what good is it for my children to walk through and just look, but have no idea what they are looking at. I feel that way about them learing their scriptures at school. I can work with them for hours on end to memorize it, but what I really want is for them to know what it means. Again, that is the teacher coming out in me again. My most favorite part is when you walk through the Garden of Eden. That's when I start my blabbering. It really is the bible coming to life.
You can believe that I spent a lot of time at this exhibit. It was a great opportunity to explain how fighting with your brothers can lead to death. I made sure to point out the blood on the rock and tried to scare the snot out of them, but unfortunately I don't think it ended up being very effective.
My boys loved the automated dinosaurs. Titus acted all tough, but when it came right down to it he wasn't so sure if they were real or not. After touring the museum part we we went outside to have a lunch picnic. It was so hot outside and we were near starved. But a picnic is always fun. When we went back inside we went to see the "Men in White" show in the sound effects theatre. My kiddos really loved this too. They loved the water spraying at them and all the special effects. It was probably one of their most favorite things. The show explains how God and His creation is real to a lady who is unsure. I can't explain it, but it was great!!! By now we had been at the museum for 5 hours and hadn't even made it outside yet to the Botanical gardens and petting zoo. We thought we had seen everything inside, but later found out that we missed a few things including an awesome bug exhibit.
It was so humid and hot outside as we toured the gardens. It was amazing. Gorgeous trees, plants, and flowers everywhere. We kept pushing on ahead to the petting zoo because the kiddos had no plans on leaving until they got to pet some critters.
For some reason my petting zoo pictures are not cooperating to upload. It drives me crazy sometimes, ya'll!
My kids walked in a fence full of goats and chickens. Amelia would chase them and just grab them up like she had always been around animals her whole life. Oh, don't worry. I was safe and sound outside the fence. Or so I thought. Let's just say that if Maynard had been videoing at this very moment I'm fixing to tell you about, we possible could have won some money. I was watching the kids while taking pictures when a goat walks to the side of the fence I'm standing by. All of a sudden it grabs my scarf through the fence and keeps pulling. I am seriously screaming my head off and trying to pull my scarf out of his mouth. I panicked! I mean after it was over and I finally got my scarf out of it's mouth, I wondered why I just didn't pull the dumb scarf off and just let it have the whole thing. Ha ha. Obviously, I wasn't thinking clearly enough. After the petting zoo the kids really wanted to go on the camel rides, but they had already shut down the rides for the day. The museum was closing in 30 minutes and it was time to call it a day. We walked backed to our van, guzzled water, and headed for home. The kids were out like lightening and we had a quite drive home. If ya'll have never been to the Creation Museum I really suggest taking your family there.
