Amelia's 6th Birthday

Boy did this girl have big plans for her birthday. She had told several people that she was going to have her birthday at Disneyland, the beach, and get this......even Jerusalem. Yes!  She really did!!  Too bad her birthday is so close to Christmas because none of those were in the budget and truthfully, probably never will be.
We discussed it several times and she finally agreed to go have pedicures with her 2 little friends.

So let's back up to the morning of her Birthday. Actually in the middle of the night she got sick and threw up in her bed. I put her in the tub and was cleaning everything up while she sobbed her heart out. "I don't want to be sick on my Birthday."  I felt so sad for her. Here she was all excited for her birthday and she was sick. We both went to lay down on the couch and we prayed that she would feel better in the morning.
She had told Maynard that she wanted to wake up before he left for work to open her presents. Since we were on the couch it was easier to wake up as we heard him walking around the house. She sat up all excited as Maynard wished her a happy birthday. She said she felt so much better and her stomach didn't hurt her at all. We woke the boys up so she could open her gifts. They weren't too happy to be up so early.

I never really noticed until this picture that Amelia and Maynard have the same smile. They both smile kinda crooked.

After opening gifts Maynard left for work. When he left everyone went back to bed. Ha ha. We could sleep an extra 45 mins and boy was that 45 mins amazing.

Everyone got back up and got ready for school. Amelia had her requested pancake with a candle. She ate every bite, so I'm guessing she just had a tummy ache the night before.
She wore a Birthday sash and tiara to school. They sang to her during opening and she had cupcakes in class.

I picked her up at 12 at school. She changed her clothes real fast to get ready to party.
First stop was Mexican for lunch.
These 4 are pretty tight.

She agreed to letting them sing to her this year. I couldn't believe it. Last year she refused to even go near a Mexican  restaraunt around her birthday.
Much to our disappointment (and her relief) they just brought her the ice cream and didn't sing to her. I guess they were too busy maybe. I don't know. She thought it was hilarious though. Which is why a few days later our family went back to eat Mexican to have a do over.
She likes this part, but hates the singing part. It scares her to death.
It cracks me up. We will continue to do this every year until she stops being scared. Ha ha

So I jumped ahead. Let me get back to what happened after she ate lunch with her friends.

Next stop was.........
She loves getting pedis!!  Melissa got her one last May and she has begged to go back ever since. Going with friends is even better.
Dalton tagged along, but he helped his Mom go get slushies for them to drink while they got their pedis.
They got the full treatment.
They were too cute. Her little friends had never been before and they loved every second of it. They had us dying laughing.
They got clear polish with just a hint of sparkle. I'm sure if they had their way or were allowed, they would of had the gaudiest color on the shelf.

It was time to separate from her buddies. We had to go pick up her brothers from school and head home for cake and ice cream before we left for the boys' ballgame.

Speaking of cake......
I was intending on baking her a cake and letting her decorate it with sprinkles and frosting and whatever else she wanted to put on it. I should actually rephrase that statement. I couldn't let her put on it whatever she wanted because she chose something a little shocking.

We went to a craft store and this is what she chose. "Barbies" for her cake. Oh dear. I'm pretty sure these are used for bridal showers. Ha ha. I talked her into getting some real Barbie candy pieces to put on instead.
We went to Walmart to buy cake mix when we walked buy the bakery. There set a pretty cake marked down to $9.49. I told Amelia we could just buy that and she can add to it when she got home. She agreed and loved it. We bought pink sprinkles and extra pink frosting.
You are gonna laugh when you see this cake. (Before and after)
So it happened to be a news years cake that was marked down. The coaster said Drink and be merry. Well, we didn't care. We could pull that off and decorate over it. Plus Amelia liked the fancy glass and said it looked good with her Barbie decorations.  Amelia did 90% of the decorating herself.
Isn't it beautiful????  It tasted good, I know that.

We ate cake and then we had to rush out the door.
She said she had the best birthday ever.

Her favorite gift was her nerf bow and arrow set. Then she got a few things she needed.

She ended up getting almost $100 and so I took her shopping. She knew exactly what she wanted and it didn't take long to spend her money. She bought a fake American girl doll from Walmart so her real doll would have someone to play with. She bought them extra outfits and a bed. She also bought her a pair of boots that she couldn't get out of her mind when she seen her friend wearing a pair.
I wasn't too sure of them at first, but they kinda grow on ya I guess.

For the last 2 years I have asked Amelia some questions. I'm gonna ask her the same questions to see how her answers have changed. I may ask a few new ones as well since she has started school this year.

She sure has changed a lot in one year.

Let's Play Ball!!

A couple of years ago I took my boys to a ball game because my nephew was playing. Little did I know that our school was also there. Our principal asked Josiah if he wanted to play that day. It literally made his day. After that, it was all he could think about it from then on out. I'll include a pic from that day.
So here it is almost 2 years later and Josiah is still a little young to be on the team. However, a JV game was coming up and again Bro. Gilpin asked the boys if they wanted to play. Of course they did. Even Titus would get to play this time.

They knew about this game since well before Thanksgiving and drove us crazy asking how much can longer until the game.

Finally it was game day. They were so excited.
These boys were ready to play.

I liked how they passed the ball to each other. Their brother bond is pretty tight.

There were a few funny moments. Josiah fouled a teeny 5 year old boy. He wasn't messing around. Lol

Amelia and her little friend cheered their little hearts out.
They ended up losing the game by 6 points. I was still proud of them because most of them little boys had never even played a real game before.

They had another game this past Tuesday. We had to drive to Hazard for it. The boys played so much better this time. If they could just hit the shots they were shooting they could have won easily. They lost by 12 this game.

It was a good game and they had fun.
I love the Christian organization. They are truly playing for fun. Of course, winning every now and then would be nice too. Ha ha

Christmas Day 2015

Because I'm not a morning person, even on Christmas, I declared that Christmas didn't start until 8. We had dinner on Christmas Eve with the Parker family and the kids had a few new gifts to play with. Maynard and I had lots of gift wrapping to do and we needed these kiddos to get to bed. They were so excited that it was hard for them to go to sleep.
We got busy wrapping and it didn't take too long because Maynard had done a lot of it earlier that day.
We finally went to bed and I heard foot steps all night. I was beginning to think Santa  really had stopped by. Guess what??  He did. I caught him.
He wasn't happy about me recording him though. Here's a link to what happened.
I guess Santa was getting grumpy at the end of the night.

I still heard footsteps running through the house all night. It even crossed my mind that maybe we were getting robbed like the Barclay's did on Oddsessey. Instead of getting up I just daydreamed about about how the community would help us and we would still have the best Christmas ever. Ha ha
Come morning I found out the footsteps actually belonged to Josiah. He said he kept going to check the clock on the stove to see if it was 8 O'Clock yet.
How cute is that? He probably only slept 2 hours all night. He was so excited he couldn't rest.
Finally 8 came and they headed to the living room. I think I was the last to arrive. I had to tell Amelia to change into her Christmas  gown because apparently she fell asleep in an old T-shirt. That's just not appropriate attire for Christmas.

Maynard read the Christmas story and they all pretended to listen and then soon it was time to open gifts. We started out in a mannerly fashion and then somehow it got crazy in there.

Her favorite gift was an American Girl doll. She had her heart set on getting one and we found a great deal on this doll.

Their favorite gift was of course their BB guns. I took a poll on IG to see how long Titus would have his gun before it got taken away. The answer was 5 days. Surprised it took that long. Most said 24 hrs. Lol
Just a hillbilly shooting targets out his bedroom window.

Amelia also got a Cricket doll. I have had Corky since 1986. Cricket was on EBay for .99 cents and I couldn't pass her up. Amelia was overwhelmed with the 2 dolls and I should have saved one for her Birthday, but I couldn't wait.
Brother and sister reunited again.

While they played with their toys I cooked breakfast and we used our Christmas China again this year.
I'm short one plate and need to find another one.
Our breakfast included breakfast casserole, sausage links, tater tots, and Christmas shaped waffles. We also had cheese cubes and pepperoni to snack on before we left for Mamaw and Papaws.

I did the dishes and Maynard kept trying to clean up behind the kids, but it was pretty much worthless in trying.

Soon it was time to leave for Etown. We pulled out the driveway and I looked back to 3 kids sound asleep. They slept most of the whole way there.
We got to  Mom and Dad's and the party started. We had sub sandwiches and party food to eat.
We let all the kids open their gifts first.

The adults played White Elephant and Dirty Santa for our gift exchange.  It's always interesting and a lot of fun. We're always a tad disappointed when no one cries. Ha ha. Speaking of crying..... Mom totally cried when she opened her gift from us this year. Well, from Melissa (all her idea) me and Christy just helped pay for it.

Since the next day was Saturday, Maynard didn't have to work. It was his first Saturday off since Thanksgiving. I napped on the couch while he ran toThrift  stores and the Goodwill.  We ate lunch with my family and them haded back home.
By Sunday me and Josiah were pretty sick and didn't go to church. We went to urgent care and got shots and medicine.
Now Christmas is over and we will be celebrating the new year soon.

Glad for a fresh start. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
