Christmas Day 2012

We spend Christmas at my parent's house which is about 2 1/2 hrs away from here. We just pack up the kid's gifts and the open them Christmas morning before everyone gets there. It would be nice to have Christmas at home, but I know my mom and dad won't always be around so until then, that's what we will continue to do. My kids got about 7-8 gifts from us. Their favorites was Josiah's Ds xl and Titus's drum set, and Amelia said hers was her pink sparkly boots. Ha All my family came in and the grandkids exchanged gifts and the adults played White Elephant and Dirty Santa. It was very interesting this year. Our White Elephant gifts get crazier every year. About 7 that night Titus was asking to go home because we only told him about his drum set when he opened the drum sticks. He wanted to get home and play his drums. Titus has a passion for the drums. He eats and sleeps with drums on the brain. He has a little tykes, my first drum, from his first b-day and he still packs it around and him 5 yrs old. He had it just yesterday and I figured it would be old news by now, but I guess not. The kids slept all the way home and was refreshed once they were actually allowed to open their toys and play with them. At 2 a.m. in the morning the drums were still going strong. I had to finally make them go to bed. What a wonderful Christmas season this has been. Thank you, God for the greatest gift, Jesus!

Christmas 2012 Traditions and activities

We were hit with alot of sicknesses throughout the Holiday season so we missed out on a few things we had planned. But we made up for it with plenty to do indoors. Some may even become new traditions for us. The first few pics were of gingerbread man houses. Josiah got to make one at school and me and the kids were going to get to go too. Plans changed in the middle of the night when Titus started puking. He was so disappointed when U told him we wouldn't be able to go to school that day. My friend Sarah came through for us and sent home extra stuff so that he and Amelia could make one at home. Wasn't that sweet? The other picture is a collage of our tradition of making a gingerbread man. Maynard helped them make this one and that made it even more special. The next few pics are of Amelia with her advent calendar. The kids really enjoyed this and that may become a new tradition as well. Even though Amelia's got eaten about a week early. We also had Christmas french toast one morning for breakfast and then a visit to Santa. We enjoyed crazy hat day at Sonic and got a free ice cream cone. Our church had a Christmas play this year that we all participated in. Mt kids were naturals at acting. Even Amelia jumped in and stole Titus's lines. He was shocked and didn't know what to do. Ut was cute. My mom came to see the play and brought cousins for my kids to play with for a whole day! Hope you enjoyed the pics. I will have my actual Christmas day post up by tomorrow hopefully.

Our Christmas Elves 2012

Our kids don't believe in Santa.  They know he is only pretend.  They also know that Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus.
However, I want my kids to have a little fun too, so we just pretend Santa is real sometimes.  For instance, my kids were hearing about the Shelf Elf and they really wanted one.  I got to thinking about and decided it would be fun for them.  We found 3 elves which happened to be Snap, Crackle, and Pop.  It would have to work because the real things were around $30.  The elves are supposed to  sit on a shelf and watch to see if the kids are good or bad all day.  Then at night they leave for the North Pole to report to Santa.  Every morning when the kids wake up, they have moved to a different spot.  Some elves are mischevious and of
course ours proved to be no less. My kids had a blast with their elves and are excited about next year

Will He find faith on the earth?

Our Christmas play has been rescheduled.

Wednesday Dec 19 at 7 pm
Friday  Dec 21 at 7 pm.

The play is a Santa Clause family verses a nonbelieving Santa family.

Me and Maynard are diehard Santa Clause believers and we intend to get even with our neighbors for telling our kids Santa wasn't real.

It's about an hour long with a few Christmas Carols in between.

IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR KIDS TO HEAR ABOUT THERE NOT BEING A REAL SANTA, YOU MAY NOT WANT THEM TO COME.  JUST SAYIN.........

Hope to see you there!

Keeping busy during the Christmas Season

My family is enjoying this Christmas season.  We are staying busy with lots of activites.  Last weekend was cram full of stuff for us to do.  We decorated for Christmas, seen Christmas parade, went to watch Junie B. Jones Christmas play, and went to Lexington to see the lights and let the kids participate in the activites there.  Enjoy the pics....

Josiah went in the storage room and drug out the tree the day after Thanksgiving.  He made me keep my promise.

Finished tree.  I plan on redoing the ribbon with some mesh.  Don't ya love my tree topper Maynard fixed for me?

Collage of our living room decorations.

My primitive tree in our bedroom.

Being silly in front of the tree.

Maynard is such a  big help when we all go shopping.  Ha Ha

Christmas on Main 2012.  We love watching the parade and the weather was perfect.  Amelia soon shedded her hat and mittens.  I even looked down to see her boots off at one point.

I love this picture of Titus.  Maynard and Josiah were out selling reindeer noses and antlers at Christmas on Main so that's why I didn't have Josiah in the last picture.

After we drove through the lights, we parked and Frosty met us at the front entrance.  It was warm and I left the kid's jackets in the van.  I wasn't thinking about it getting so cold, but they were freezing an hour later.  oops!

Josiah had saved his money helping Maynard sale reindeer noses the night before to ride a pony.  Poor kid couldn't get his balance and was scared and kept saying, "are we done yet?  Is it almost over?"  I felt bad that he didn't enjoy what he had been looking forward too.

Titus was a born natural.  Need I say more?

Amelia liked it, but I had to stay right beside her and I wasn't too happy about that.  I am scared of all animals.  (Have I ever said that on my blog before?) lol

That should about bring us up to date.  We have also been busy practicing for a Christmas play at our church that we've been working on.  My kids are looking forward to that so if ya'll want to come we are gonna have it Sunday night the 16th at 6pm and again that Friday the 21st at 7.
Maynard and I have snuck away for an overnight shopping trip.  My neice Tara has my kids at the house.  I have to get all my shopping done tomorrow while I have a babysitter.  I ALWAYS have my kids and I can't shop with them with me.  When they were little it didn't matter, but now they are at the age where it does matter and I want Christmas to be special for them with suprises.I am missing my kids something awful, yet at the same time it feels good to spend time with my husband!
