Another trip to the dentist.

Six months was up and it was time for my kids to get their teeth cleaned. Josiah had already had his cleaned because he had a tooth hurting and I had taken him 2 weeks before. He had to go again though to get a spacer where they had pulled a baby tooth that was abcessed, but I already blogged about that trip. This was gonna be Amelia's first cleaning and for some reason I assumed she would do just fine. She loves brushing her teeth and she also knows about the prize drawers. Titus climbed up in the chair first and was a pro! He had a great report with perfect teeth and no cavities. Which is funny because I got to beat him down to get him to brush. Poor Josiah has had a horrible time with his teeth and he really tries to take care of his teeth. Here's Titus getting his teeth cleaned.
And I love this picture because look what I noticed after Titus climbed up in the dentist chair. A nail sticking out of his boot. Ha ha
Amelia was next and here is her picture in the chair.
Yeah, it went that well. She began screaming when I took her to the chair. She wouldn't go near it. She said, "THEY ARE GONNA HURT ME!" So the hygienist said we would just wait for the dentist to check her. I guess she valued her fingers. When the dentist came over I had to hold Amelia and the dentist put her head in her lap. She pried her mouth open and quickly checked her teeth. Amelia was screaming bloody murder. The dentist arranged her fingers just right so she didn't get bit. Only once did I see her jerk her finger out quickly. Ha ha Amelia's teeth looked good too. However, we did admit to the dentist that Amelia still took a milk cuppie to bed. Amelia was dearly attached to her pacie. When I broke her from it she became attached to her cup instead. I never ever allowed I was my babies to have a bottle in their crib. But somehow with a wore out Momma, I let her convince me to let her take her cup to bed with her. I knew this was gonna have to be broke soon, but I was dreading it. She has been my best sleeper ever. She goes straight to bed with no problems, why mess that up, right? Even though her teeth were fine, they did warn me that it would eventually cause cavities. When we got home that night, Amelia asked for her cup. I told her that it would give her a cavity if she slept with her cup anymore. She agreed to water in her cup and she cried that she didn't want any cavities because she wasn't "eber, eber going to the dentist again. Lol Even though we had a rough dentist visit, I have now broken my 3 yr old from her milk cuppie at night. She didn't even ask for her cup at all last night. Yay! In 2 weeks she has to have allergy testing done for food allergies. That is gonna be traumatic for her so please be praying for her. I will update about that later.

Josiah loves the Word Of God!

From the time Josiah was little, he always loved Bible stories. As matter of fact, besides break at school, he most looks forward to bible class. Even his teacher has told me many times that Josiah sure knows his Bible. However, he tends to be a smarty pants because he knows so much already. He is quick to correct you and also will ask you random bible questions throughout the day. He has scolded more than one person for not knowing their bible if they get an answer wrong. They must have played a bible trivia game in chapel one day at school and Josiah was so upset that they only got one turn a piece. He said he knew all the answers even the ones the high schoolers didn't know. Ha ha See what I mean about being a smarty pants? Well, I have been blessed to be his Sunday School teacher since he was 3. I have learned that kids tell lots of family secrets in the classroom, so I like to keep my kids pretty close to me. Ha ha. Titus will tell anyone anything they need to know! (or not know) I'm getting side tracked here..... I'm guessing Miss Bowman probably has the same problem with Josiah like I do in the classroom. Every Sunday when I begin our lesson he always says, "I already know this story." So one Sunday morning I said, "ok, Hot Shot. Since you know so much, next Sunday you will be the teacher and teach us the lesson. Our next lesson was supposed to be about Daniel in the lions den, so I knew he could handle it. He was shocked and asked if I really meant it. As soon as we got home, he got his Bible, notebook, and a pen. He began studying right away. I was so proud of him. I would look over his notes and was just amazed at what he had written. He was so excited and couldn't wait for that next Sunday to get here. Unfortunately, the next Sunday came and Amelia had gotten a stomache bug and was horribly sick. We stayed home from church because she was so bad. It was around 12 that Josiah asked about when it was time for church. Maynard said, we will go this evening. Josiah said, "But people are supposed to go to church twice on Sunday, remember, Dad?" Poor kid hadn't realized he already missed Sunday School. His heart was broken and his whole day was ruined. I felt sorry for him. It hurts to look forward to stuff and then it fall through, especially to a kid. Well, this past Sunday finally came and Josiah had his Bible and notebook and was ready to teach us about Daniel. He took it seriously, and booted me out of the teacher's seat. He asked questions from our last lesson and then began to teach. He even had a little craft prepared for us to work on. He thoroughly enjoyed his authority. As a matter of fact, he even gave ME a demerit! Ha ha I love teaching Sunday School. I'm not bragging at all, but I'm not very talented at a lot of things. But teaching kids in Sunday School, I get! I have a passion for it and I enjoy it. Right now I only have my 3 kids in my class because of the ages and it makes it a little less exciting, but we still have a good class. I hope and pray that the Lord will send me some more students soon. Titus has already asked if he can teach next Sunday. I'm pretty sure his teaching will turn into preaching!!

You mean the library isn't giving away roses?

Maynard came home from work yesterday evening and then realized he had forgotten to make his regular stop at the library. So he said he was gonna run do that and be right back. I got occupied fixing supper and was only half aware that he had came back home. When he walked in the kitchen he had a rose in one hand and a calendar in the other hand. I just glanced at him and said, "Is the library giving away roses today?" He starts to laugh and holds up the calendar which was from a florist. He had actually dropped by a florist and bought me a rose and he got a free calendar. Oops! My husband was trying to be all sweet and I ruined the moment. Ha ha! In my defense though, the library does give away free trees on Arbor Day. Lol

No querio la Azteca, por favor!

Please don't judge my Spanish skills in my title. It's been awhile! Lol I wanted to share our experience of taking Amelia out to eat at a Mexican restaurant the day after her birthday. We figured she would like it because this year she actually enjoyed being told happy birthday. Last year was a different story. She screamed and cried when anyone sang or told her Happy Birthday. Weird, I know, but that is really what happened. But this year was different........... Amelia enjoys mexican food. I usually share a meal with her, but it's to the point where I still leave hungry. She loves it. Maybe because I craved it while I was pregnant with her. This day was no different than any other. She was happily putting away my/her dinner. Maynard had asked them to come sing to her. I guess they caught her off guard and came from behind her, but she was not happy. They tried to put the sombrero on her and she screamed and fell straight back in my lap. They continued to sing and she continued to cry. Am I a bad mommy for laughing? I couldn't help it. Ha ha She took a few bites of her ice cream, but declared it nasty and pushed it away. My boys were happy to take it off her hands. Just thought I would share this.

Amelia's 3rd birthday

My baby is 3! Can't help but smile that I don't have another young'n on my hip besides her. Ha Usually when my kids hit 2 I would be fixing to have another one. (hush, Angie T. :) Anyways, it seems like my days are getting some easier the older they get. I do hate that she's growing up so fast. Not only is she 3 already, but she acts older and I hate that. I don't want a pre-teen I want her to act 3, but that is what happens when she only has teen girls as friends. Here is Amelia's hospital picture. She was 11 lbs and 5oz and 22" long.
Now that chubby baby is a 3 yr old girl. Last year she cried when we said or sang Happy Birthday. This year she was quite the opposite. She was looking forward to her birthday. She made the comment at Christmas that as soon as Jesus bday was done it was her bday. Ha ha Sorry about that, Jesus. I believe birthdays are special and I try my best to make it extra special for my kids. That doesn't always include a party either. Sometimes it's just to somewhere fun or a special trip. This year I didn't do any big parties and all for several different reasons. I was planning a party for Amelia, but then we were plaqued with sicknesses and I failed to get a party together in enough time. Here is what Amelia woke up to this morning to remind her it was her birthday as soon as she woke up.
It was sweet when the first words I heard was, "Boons, today's my burfday." She was so excited and told her brothers "thanks" as they each wished her a happy birthday. We plan on redoing her bedroom soon so that will be her bday gift from us, but we did get her a baby doll that she loves!
Instead of her having her princess party we decided to take her to an inflatable place to play. She asked for Hailey and Rachel to go with her from church. (11 and 13 yr old girls) I dressed Amelia in her princess dress complete with her tiara and sash. She thought she was big stuff today. I had bought her a personalized princess CD for Christmas and on the way to Richmond I played her bday song. The smile on her face couldn't be purchased at any price. She was feeling special and I loved it.
Very hard to get her to cooperate for a picture here. Lol Here's a few pics at the bounce house.
Amelia had a blast! She had Hailey and Rachel at her fingertips and they played whatever she wanted them too. In order to get her to leave I reminded her that she still had to eat her princess cake. We went to Kfc and ate and then we had cake and sang Happy Birthday.
She had a great day and I was excited for her. I love my little princess!

Josiah is a trooper.

This poor little guy has had the roughest time lately. He has gone from a stomache virus that lasted about 4 days to having strep. Which he had a horrible time with. His face swelled and he had a rash from head to toe. He was really sick. He got through Christmas until 2days afterwards and then he started spiking 102 fevers. He ended uo having the flu which I already told ya'll about in my last blog. Well during all these sicknessses he has become so sweet and loving towards me. He is constantly hugging me and telling me how much he loves me and how I'm the best mom in the world. I think it's his way of showing me how thankful he is to me for me taking care of him while he was so sick. Anyways, if all that hadn't been enough, he has been crying here lately with a tooth hurting him. He had a dentist appt made for in a couple weeks, but he was in alot of pain. When he winced in pain while eating cheezits, I knew something more than a cavity was up. His dentist agreed to see him the very next day which was this morning. We had to be there at 7 a.m.. Wow, that's early. Ha ha. After getting his teeth cleaned the dentist told me his exray showed an abcessed tooth under a cap he had on a baby tooth. Plus, Josiah was somehow blessed with his 6 yr molars that developed without enamel. All 4 of them came in brown. One tooth was really weak and the Dr wanted to cap it and pull the other one. Josiah was soon given the silly juice and he was headed for la la land. He announced quite loudly that there were 2 of me. I thought that might come in handy. Lol But soon there also was 2 spongebob's too. We waited almost 2 hrs and then it was his turn. They said he did great! His first concern was, "can I eat now?" Then he took a fit when he found out he couldn't go to school. He insisted he was fine and begged to go. So I let him. Keeo in mind he didn't have anything for pain and was still numb. He ate mashed potatoes and was off. I called his teacher after school and she was laughing because he had fallen asleep at his desk twice that afternoon. Ha ha That struck me funny. I mean when I wS little and my dr or dentist said go home and rest, that is what I would have done. A free day of no school. Not him. He wanted to go. I'm glad he likes school so much that he don't want to miss. Me and Josiah went to town to get a few things this evening and he was so sweet and tried hard not to complain. He has finally crashed on the couch and still hasn't had anything for pain. He is such a trooper. The tooth fairy really needs to get to work now.......... Hopefully all is well for awhile.

Germs, Germs, Germs.........GO AWAY!

My poor children. Especially, Josiah has been so sick. Within 2 weeks they have had the stomache virus, strep throat, and now the FLU! Titus is the only one who managed not to catch the flu. He is being treated though as a preventative. My kid's pediatrician is to quick to dismiss everything as a virus. Josiah and Amelia were pretty sick and I brought Titus along too because he keeps this dry cough thing going on. Josiah and Amelia were the sickest, but yet their Dr spent way more time on Titus, as usual. Titus was getting prescriptions for antibiotics, allergy meds, breathing treatments, the whole 9 yards. Amelia wouldn't come out from behind my chair ti even let the dr look at her. Titus announced loudly, "She don't like doctors" to my dismay. I finally coaxed her out, but she still wasn't cooperative. The dr walked out a minute and I called Maynard for HELP! Thankfully, he was just a couple miles away and came on it. Maynard demanded their temps be taken. The dr said they had flu like virus, but no flu because they were too active to have the flu. My kids never act like they are sick. They are troopers and it's hard to tell by the way they act. The nurse came back in to check their temps and they were 102 fevers. "oh my, I will swab Josiah for flu, but he not have it, I'm sure. They said it takes 15 mins to find out the results. The Dr immediately comes back in and very humbly says, He have flu. He have flu, bad." Then they swab Amelia and Titus. Amelia was positive, but Titus was negative. We were rushed out of the office and quarantined to our house. It was a rough few days because evidently that Tamiflu is pretty yucky tasting stuff. We were home from Friday to New years evening and the kids were having pizza withdrawals so we celebrated them feeling better by going to Dinos for pizza. It felt good to get out awhile. Josiah went back to school today and Amelia and Titus got to go to the library for story and craft time. Josiah was crying when I picked him up because his teacher had him sit out on break and pe because he was coughing so hard. Which I had called cautioning them that it might still be too much for him right now. Josiah loves life and I just hate for him to feel so bad lately. As of now, we are germ free. If you or your kids are sick, please stay home and don't share the germs. It's the only way to stop the germs from spreading.
